License & Terms
Last updated: 4 July 2026
Mac Performance Monitor ("the App") is free and open-source software made by Neil Johnson. It is released under the MIT License. By using the App you agree to the terms below.
1. The App
Mac Performance Monitor is a native macOS application that displays information about your Mac's performance. It is provided free of charge, with no account, no license key, and no purchase required. It may be improved, changed, or updated from time to time.
2. Open-source license
The App is licensed under the MIT License. The full source code is available at github.com/Zesty0wl/mac-performance-monitor. You are free to use, copy, modify, and redistribute the software under the terms of that license, including the requirement to keep the copyright and license notice. If there is any conflict between these terms and the MIT License as to your rights in the source code, the MIT License governs.
3. Third-party components
The App bundles open-source components (such as GRDB.swift and Sparkle), each under its own license. Those licenses continue to apply to their respective components.
4. Updates and support
The App can update itself using Sparkle, downloading signed, notarised builds. Support is best effort and community based, primarily through the project's issue tracker. There is no guarantee that the App will be compatible with every future version of macOS or every hardware configuration.
5. Disclaimer of warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error free, or that the performance information it shows will be accurate in all circumstances. You use the App at your own risk.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profit, or revenue, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App. Because the App is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Privacy
The App sends no telemetry and keeps its data on your Mac. For details of the limited data the website handles, see our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules that apply where you live.
